The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. We listed our house 'for sale' on Feb 10th. Cam was accepted into Westport Rd Baptist Church daycare (he has been on the wait list since Feb 2011) the week of Feb 6th. We found a new house in Louisville the week of Feb 13th and on Friday, Feb 24th our house in Lexington sold and that Saturday, the 25th, we moved to Louisville.
Tonight is the 5th night "living" in Louisville. It's like I'm in a dream and I'm going to wake up and we are back in our house on Lauderdale Drive. Last Monday was hard on me. I was stressed with studying for my geriatrics exam that was on the upcoming Friday, we needed to figure out the packing situation and my emotions got the best of me. We made such great memories in that house. I hated to say goodbye. On Saturday, Cam, Kneesa and I hung out in Lexington for most part of the day while the movers and Shannon unloaded our furniture and all the boxes that accumulated over the years- wow! I sat on the floor of our, now sold, house and it felt so weird. Our stuff is what made it home, so it felt empty, yet at the same time, it was 'home'. It was comfort. It was stability. Memories flooded over me. I couldn't help but take a picture of my babies napping in our home for the last time...
Monday was such a fluster for me. I did not have time on Sunday to find the daycare nor my new rotation in this new, big town. I was stressed, tired, and unsettled. Not to mention, the daycare (while we've heard great things) did not settle with me very well. They had Cam in the crawler's room, but did not bother to inform us of this until I showed up with him. We had been told he'd be in the Infant room. I walked in and couldn't help but compare everything about the place to Creation Kingdom. I probably cried everyday last week about Cam leaving CK. (Obviously my hormones were out of whack for the amount of tears I shed in 1 week). The room is HALF the size of his old room, he is around all older kids that are mobile, he only gets 2 naps a day, on his belly (wth!?!?)....and a multitude of other things that just wasn't "his old infant room". The staff knew I was not happy. When I picked him up that evening, new ones I hadn't met even introduced themselves and said they heard I wasn't happy. Oh well, it's my child and I'm not scared to voice my opinion. They don't even write down what activities they did during the day like Ms. Brittany and Ms. Samantha did. I know I'm just comparing because we were so pleased with his Lexington daycare and I'm adjusting everyday. Overall, I know it's a good facility with good morals and we know about 3-4 other friends that use the same daycare and they are all happy with it, so it has to be good....right!? ;) My red-headed meanness tends to come out when I'm stressed and not happy about something. I was much nicer on Tuesday, promise! I feel safe with him being there and I know the teachers are great, but they just don't offer some of the things I'd like him to have (i.e. baby sign).
Cam is 6mo and 2wk old. He has a few big accomplishments that have happened in the last 7-10 days.
1) A new tooth is poking out from his bottom gums and he hasn't been fussy at all!
2) He can hold his own bottle (well not the wide Dr Browns, but the tall thin ones)!
3) He had a great time at the park in Norton Commons today with his first swing ride!
I'm so proud of my big, growing boy. I just love him more and more with each passing day.
(Here's a video of his swing adventure.....I missed his initial laugh because my iphone is slow....but he had a great time!)
My new rotation is Family Medicine. It's an 8wk rotation. The office is private and there are 2 MDs & 2 PAs. It is a very laid back office, friendly staff and a great learning environment. I'm looking forward to spending 8wk there, even though the MD is a huge UofL fan. ;-P
The drive from our house to the daycare: 10min
The drive from the daycare to clinic: 17min
(not bad to be in such a huge city....)
Our new address is: 5808 Weatherburn Ct. Prospect, KY 40059
While we are still in the process of unpacking.......here are a few pictures of the new house.
(front view)
(Welcome.....view from from door)
(we are using the dining room for our 2nd set of couches that our basement had. We have a basement here, but it's unfinished and the couches wouldn't fit down the stairs....) OHH and this is the room I spilled an entire mug 20oz mug of coffee on the floor Tues AM. Lovely!
Kitchen....the cabinets are a bit old looking, but I have a ton of space!
Living room view from upstairs...
Upstairs has 3 bedrooms and a bath, the main floor has the master bed/bath, laundry, kitchen, living room, dining room, and the basement is unfinished
The only downfall with renting is that all the walls are white. The guy said we could paint but we would have to repaint them white again. Since we are only staying here 1 year, I don't think we are going to paint. I'd love to, but I just don't think it's financially important at this point. A year will fly by!
Well, I believe that's about all the updates I have.......(as if that wasn't long enough) ;o)

Your new place looks great Krisiten! Sounded like a rough week, glad you made it through it. I noticed Cam's feet touch the ground in his bouncy seat. We have to put three towel's under Ava's feet so she can bounce around. :)
ReplyDelete((hugs)) We moved across town when Lucas was right at a year. Even though it wasn't a HUGE move it was still hard. That was OUR first house after all and the new one didn't feel like home. It didn't take long before it grew on us though and we have made lots of new memories here. I also went through changing sitters when Lucas was 9 mos. I remember sitting him down in the floor and him just looking at all the new kids like he had no clue. KILLED me. Of course by like day 3 he was one of the gang and absolutely LOVES his sitter (we do too!) So in a nutshell I can feel your pain but also know that in a few weeks/months life will be normal again. I'm type A too and getting out of a routine and into so many new things sets my world spinning a bit fast as well!
ReplyDeleteWell, how's it going? You've been there for a couple of weeks now. Are you getting settled in?
ReplyDeleteI'm also here to solicit your vote for a recipe contest I entered. I'd really appreciate your vote! Thanks (:
