Aug 16- Oct 16....yup it's been 2 months! Crazy how time flies especially when you're absorbed in a little special someone!!
At first it was hard to see him growing since I'm with him everyday but NOW....to compare pictures and to see his progress is amazing! WOW. He has grown so much since August and this unconditional love I have for this child flourishes daily.
He's learned to suck on his fist (which I promptly replace with a paci as I'd rather have to ween him from a pacifier than his thumb down the road), scratches his head to pieces if those nails aren't trimmed, flail his arms around like a crazy person, I'd say 90% hold his head up on his own, loves his zebra toy, recognizes/laughs/coos at mom & dad, is on a great sleep/eat schedule and most recently, crib training.
The latter has been a tough few days. We started the crib transition (refer to last post) 5 nights ago. We decided to make the plunge since he starts daycare on Oct 24th and they enforce crib naps. We read the books and asked other parents their tricks of the trade and with all of that information plus our own judgment, we went with it.
**The first night was decent. We were up every hour or so, but it wasn't the end of the world, although all 3 of us were exhausted. 30 minute "naps" every hour makes for an unhappy family the next day but it WAS the first day.
**The second night was a disaster. He screamed bloody murder from 10-1 unless we held him (and we would only let him cry for 5min before picking him up) so from 2-5 Shannon and he slept in the recliner and from 6-9 he slept in his swing. F-A-I-L!
**The third night was much better. I'd say I got up a handful of times either to soothe or feed him. I'd lay him down somewhat awake with his paci, but stay in the room until he was asleep and remove the paci from his mouth.
**The fourth night was almost perfect. Shannon slept with him in the recliner from 9-11ish and he was put in his crib. He woke to short feed at 3 and at 6 but technically slept in the crib from 11p-9a!!
Tonight will be the 5th night...we've almost hit a week! My fingers are crossed that by Oct 24th he will have adjusted to his crib and we drop the 3am feeding. I currently feed him 6a, 9a, 12p, 3p, 6p 9p and 3a.....so dropping the middle of the night feeding will be nice, but my concern for the next week or so is adjustment. I want him to feel safe and sleep well before taking away something that comforts him.
Well here are a few comparison pictures:
1) 1 month old vs 2 month old
2) 2wk old bath (not a big fan) vs 8wk old bath (loving it)
