Cam's Baptism

4/29/12
What a great day!  Yes, it's almost a month later, but I'm finally making time to share the good news.  Cameron Kenneth Hord was baptized at St. Bernadette church by my hometown priest (who married us), Fr. Tony.
Cam, you loved the holy water, as it was poured over your head.    He got fussy once, but I think he was just hot.  I will admit, it was hot so I'm sure that was the reason.  ;)  The church is new and is under construction, so we chose the chapel instead of the school gym.  It was quaint, small and private.  We invited just the immediately family and had everyone over for lunch.  It was a great day.   I hope this is just the beginning of Cam's religious encounters.  I want him to live in the faith of the Lord and I hope we, as parents, and his godparents and family/friends will help lead him to the path of God.

We chose Shannon's brother, Todd and my sister, Megan to be the godparents of Cameron.  It was a difficult decision because I hated to "pick" siblings when I know they would all be wonderful godparents to Cameron.  We paired all our siblings up and decided we would start with the eldest.  We are blessed and I couldn't ask for better siblings and I'd have to say the same for Shannon's brother & sister.   Raymond and Megan are so important to me.  It seems you finally realize how important family is, once you have children.  I realize all the sacrifices, money, time and love that my parents gave me (us) and it was unconditional and never questioned.  I could not tell you if they gave up a lot when I was younger.  They very well could have, but never showed it.  We were blessed that my mother stayed at home with us after Raymond was born and dad worked his tail-end off to support us in every way possible.   Having a child makes you appreciate the things that were taken for granted as a child/teenager.  I hope that we will emulate that unconditional love and teachings to our son.

Here's the video of him being baptized.

Here are some pictures captured during the ceremony.
He's busy watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while everyone is eating lunch.

Hey now, I'll grab your hand!

The holy water part of his baptism

He trying to reach for the water because he liked it!

The annointing with oil...although he seemed to like Megan's bracelet better.

Hey now, did you just put oil on my head?

Still watching Megan's bracelet.
